Regular teeth cleaning is recommended to remove tartar (mineralized plaque) that may develop, even with careful brushing and flossing, in areas that are difficult for you to reach.

FAQ
Can you practice dental hygiene without a dentist?
Yes, the Colorado Dental Practice Act allows a Colorado licensed dental hygienist to own and operate an independent practice (outside the traditional “dental” office setting).
What form of payment do you take?
We take cash, check or credit card.
Do I need to arrive early for my first appointment?
Yes. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out necessary paperwork.
What if you see an “area of concern” with my teeth or soft tissues that may need to be evaluated by a dentist?
All patients are referred to the dentist of their choice. If you do not currently have a dentist, a referral will be made during the time of your hygiene appointment. A referral report will then be forwarded to that dentist.
Keep in mind: It is recommended by the American Dental Association that a thorough dental examination be performed by a dentist twice each year.
Is there onsite parking?
Yes. Our parking lot is located on the north (Lake Avenue) side of building.
What services can independent hygiene practices offer?
Dental hygiene services such as dental/periodontal charting, oral hygiene education, cleanings, fluoride treatments, xrays, sealants, and teeth whitening are included.
What is periodontal disease?
The bone around your teeth reacts to the toxins excreted by the bacterial plaque and tarter on your teeth and resorbs or “goes away” from the source of irritation resulting in a periodontal pocket. The longer the tarter is left on the teeth, more and more bone is lost resulting in mobile teeth or eventually tooth loss.
What is a periodontal pocket?
When gently measured using a periodontal probe, the normal space between the tooth and gum in a healthy mouth is 3mm or less. A pocket depth of 4mm and deeper indicates increasing severity of the periodontal disease and associated bone loss.
What is gingivitis?
Inflammation (puffy, red and bleeding ) gum tissue due to insufficient oral hygiene and the accumulation of bacterial plaque and hardened plaque (tarter).
Do you take my insurance?
No. We are a “fee for service” office. In order to keep our fees affordable we only take direct payment but we can give you a form for submission and reimbursement from your dental insurance company.
